We have tried to provide an understanding of the issues surrounding decisions and events with regard to the two Cold War superpowers, their allies, and their client states. It is based on portions of the three-volume reference Chronological History of U.S. Foreign Relations (Routledge, 2003), with material added to round out the international picture of the Cold War.
