Israeli Democracy at the Crossroads
Edited by Raphael Cohen-Almagor לקטלוג
Israeli Democracy at the Crossroads
Israeli Institutions at the Crossroads is a comprehensive selection of writings on Israeli politics and schisms. It brings together some of the finest scholars to tackle subjects of paramount importance in Israel's current political climate, such as Israel's fight against terrorism, the status of women, the status of the Palestinian citizens in society, and the separation between state and religion. The result is an unrivalled and fascinating account of the major inherent tensions and problems in Israeli democracy. Discussions vary from scrutiny of state economy and critique of the excessive media ownership, to detailed analysis of the state human rights, health rights and women's rights in Israel, delineating the tension prevalent in the relationships between liberalism and socialism, secularism and Jewish law (Halakha), Jews and Palestinians inside and outside the Green Line, as well as between the Various immigrant groups.
